Honoring Navy Chief Christian Michael Pike, a true American hero who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. Born in 1981 in Berlin, Germany, Chief Pike carried on his family's distinguished legacy of military service, joining the United States Navy in 2001. As a Cryptologic Technician Technical Chief (CTTC), he used his exceptional skills to provide critical intelligence during combat operations. On March 10, 2013, during a fierce battle in Afghanistan's Maiwand District, Chief Pike was gravely wounded while protecting his fellow service members. Despite valiant efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries on March 13, 2013, in Landstuhl, Germany. Chief Pike was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star with Valor for his heroic actions.
Chief Pike's life exemplified honor, devotion to duty, and unwavering commitment to his teammates. His mother, Diana, proudly stated that he "led a life he chose" and "loved his job, he loved the Navy, and he loved his teammates". We remember and honor Chief Christian Michael Pike for his bravery, sacrifice, and dedication to protecting our nation's freedom.
